Yevaud's Reign on Pendor

The Dragon of the Ruined Tower The Hoard Yevaud had laired on Pendor for decades, hoarding treasures from the plundered coasts. He had spawned nine young dragons. He was ancient, cunning, and powerful. The Threat to the Archipelago His young dragons were beginning to fly out, threatening the Ninety Isles. This was why the Archmage sent Ged to Low Torning.

The Confrontation with Ged

The Bargain The Name of Power Ged challenged Yevaud and killed his young dragons. Then he faced the old dragon and spoke his name, Yevaud. This gave him power over the dragon. The Oath Ged forced Yevaud to swear by his name never to fly to the Archipelago. The dragon, enraged but bound, agreed. He could not break the oath. The Aftermath Yevaud remained on Pendor, his power broken. He was a symbol of the old dangers that could be contained by knowledge and courage.

Yevaud's Later Fate

The Bound Dragon The Unspoken End Yevaud kept his oath, never seen again in the Archipelago. He was said to have died eventually, but his name became a legend. Ged's victory over the dragon was one of his early great deeds.
